The village of Skibin in Brovary rayon of Kyiv Oblast has become a new home to dozens of single elderly people from the ATO area.
Oleh Horbachov, a volunteer and an IDP took single pensioners away from the war, accvording to “Vchasno”.
Since 2004 a hospice for the elderly worked in Alchevsk of Luhansk region. When the military actions started and the city was occupied Oleh had to leave and take his wards with him.
At first the hospice was located in the village of Pobieda in in Brovary rayon of Kyiv Oblast, whereas, recently Oleh and the pensioners have moved to Skibin - a neighbouring village.
“We realized, that gone are the past days, we are not going back, we need to settle down here and help people,” says Oleh Horbachov, hospice coordinator.
Within the time the hospice has been in operation, volunteers helped ca two thousand elderly people find their new home. The representatives of “Proliska” - a humanitarian mission- have been helping in relocation of people from the ARO area.
“We are now transporting people from the grey zone near the contact line – Mariinka, Krasnohorovka and Peski. Each trip involves a number of difficulties and is always unique. However, we cannot stop going there. People there need help,” say the volunteers.
Around 30 people are now permanently residing in the hospice near Kyiv. Those people have lost their homes, the care of the beloved ones and the assistance of the state.
